A dental filling is a procedure used to fill a hole or cavity caused by decay, trauma or general wear. Various materials are used as fillings; with the most popular being tooth coloured composite resin.
The most common reason for needing a filling is a result of tooth decay. A filling involves the following steps; local anaesthetic if required, removing the decayed portion of the tooth, placing a cleansing and bonding agent, then packing in the filling material to replace the lost tooth structure.
At St Ives Smiles, we use the most up to date filling materials available to ensure the filling looks like a natural tooth, whilst keeping as much tooth structure as possible. Your dedicated team of dental professionals are here to help!
