We are a short drive or one bus east in St Ives, with free parking at the door. Book online or call (02) 9488 8378. New patients from Killara and East Killara are always welcome.
Why Killara Families Choose St Ives Smiles Dentistry
Every age in the family is looked after by the same team, at a pace that suits young children and anyone who finds the dentist a bit nerve-racking.

“Good dentistry isn’t about telling people what to do. It’s about giving you a clear picture of your options, then supporting the path that’s right for you.”
Dr Jeremy Hockey, principal dentist
Will my child feel at ease?
Children are welcomed from their very first tooth through their teenage years, and we give younger patients the time they need to settle in. Eligible children can also use the Child Dental Benefits Schedule.
One dentist for every generation?
One team looks after every age, a toddler’s first check-up alongside a grandparent’s denture review, with a service history in St Ives that goes back to 1985.
Nervous about treatment?
Nitrous oxide and oral sedation are both given in-house by our own dentists, and IV sedation is available for longer procedures through a visiting sedationist.
Thinking about your smile?
Cosmetic options include teeth whitening, veneers and clear aligners such as Invisalign, with a digital preview so you can see the plan before deciding to go ahead.
Replacing a missing tooth?
Dental implants are planned here with a 3D CBCT scanner, and Dr Jeremy Hockey holds a Fellowship of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (FICOI).
Making treatment simpler to pay for?
HICAPS claims are processed on the spot for most major health funds, eligible children can use the Child Dental Benefits Schedule, and payment plans are available in-house or through humm.
A dental emergency?
A knocked, cracked or aching tooth gets a same-day appointment where one is available. Call the separate emergency line on 0422 270 577 and the team will talk through what to do before you arrive.
Keeping more under one roof?
Wisdom teeth removal, standard root canal treatment, crowns and dental implants are all treated here, so less ends up needing a referral than at many general practices. Complex or unusual cases are still referred out case by case, and reception will say so upfront.
Who You’ll See at the Practice
Dr Jeremy Hockey and Ms Theresa Tran-Nguyen have owned and run St Ives Smiles since 2022, leading a team that still includes founding dentist Dr Bentley Sacks. Previously known as Dr Bentley Sacks’ Dental Surgery, we are a long-standing dental practice of over 30 years, caring for the North Shore from St Ives. Dr Hockey also holds a Fellowship of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (FICOI).
Most visits start with general dental treatment, the check-ups, cleans and fillings that keep a family’s teeth healthy, alongside cosmetic dental treatment, from teeth whitening to a brighter finish. If something goes wrong, same-day emergency dentistry is fitted in the same day where possible.
From our home in St Ives, we also look after families in Lindfield, families in Gordon and nearby Roseville. See where else we see patients across the North Shore, our dentists across the North Shore page, or our our practice in St Ives home page.
At St Ives Smiles Dentistry, we aim to provide you with quality and caring dental service whilst incorporating the ever evolving modern age of dentistry.

A local snapshot of Killara
Killara splits into two halves. Killara proper, around the station and Pacific Highway, is home to Killara Public School on Highbridge Road and Beaumont Road Public School, while Killara High School sits over on Koola Avenue in East Killara, next to Koola Park. Killara Golf Club on the Pacific Highway gives the western side its leafy, established character, and Regimental Park does the same nearer Marian Street.
